I have lost count of the number of years that I have both RPd, and written from the perspective of being fae. I think those of us who create characters, either for prose, or RP, go through our days almost as magpies, picking up ideas from here and there.
Although you would have to RP with Celandine, my current fae character to fully find out about her, some facets of her faeness can be found from pictures and writing here on my blog, and also across on My Flickrstream
I have encountered many others in SL who have their own concept of faekind, and indeed many RP SIMs have their own ideas too. One idea which has always been very much a part of any fae that I ‘put on’, is the idea that fae tread a grey line between that which others consider either light or dark. My fae characters always do what they think is right, but it’s THEIR version of what is right.
I find the concept of ‘Unseelie’ being scary and dark, but ‘Seelie’ being all flowers and light… really… boring! I think of them very much as courts of difference, operating throughout the year to bring balance. Yes, nature can be beautiful and glorious, but it can also be harsh and leave creatures struggling to survive. I have placed Celandine as falling at the end of the Summer Court, but before the harshness of the Winter Court.
As a protector of nature, you can expect my fae to defend or mete out punishment to any who would willfully attack the free-living flora and fauna of the land she lives in. Without rambling on about magic, although Cel doesn’t consider herself a wielder of magic, there’s a strong and close connection between her and all plant life. The same vibration of creation flows as much through her as all living trees.
I know that many prefer to think of fae as truly beautiful and delicate creatures who care only for that which is gentle and kind in their world, but I think there also need to be those feisty, small, and opinionated creatures too… or perhaps that’s just my real self bleeeeding though. grins

It has to be said that I am always amazed by the gorgeous things created in SL, so that we can bring our fantasy creations into visual life.
I am showing off two gorgeous items from Petrichor : The Opalesque eyes, and the Vaera Claws. Both can be bought at the Midnight Order for January. The eyes have the usual slection of pupil shape, and animated iris layer, as well as a great selection of colours all accessible from a HUD. The claws come with a HUD to set the colours to a selection of skins, but if you have any of the different HUDs for the Vaera nails, they work too.
I used the Petrichor Vareni skin in Aari tone, as BOM over the Bella head from LOGO The Ilvanya ears and Warrior make-up are also from LOGO.
Other items used are:
(A)MAZE leg coverings and armor
Starfire Wings
