Almost a year ago, Maximillion Grant of LOGO whispered in my ear that he was thinking of working on a new head which would offer something new. It’s always good to hear what he’s working on, but this time he assured me that he hoped to map it so that we could drop old system skins on it via BOM and it would fit. I admit… at that stage the idea of BOM scared me, as I was completely wedded to appliers.
In time Max dropped a demo head on me and asked me to try any of the old system skins I still had. I had boxed up most of my old skins, but did have one open and ready to try… my ancient green fae skin from Plastik. I dropped it on… and it did in fact fit perfectly. I was amazed… or should that be ‘amaezed as a fae’ 😉
That we could then have the smoothness of a mesh head, but wear our original ‘selves’ as system skins was a little mind-boggling. Max continued working on the head, and in time she became LOGO’s Chelsea. She was special for LOGO as she celebrated LOGO’s anniversary, but for AVs like me who love to create pictures and also RP, she became so special for how easy it is to customise her.
It’s opened up a whole new source of skins to try and to enjoy how amazing they look. Sure, she doesn’t work for allllllll skins, but isn’t that why demo versions are so amazing!
My go to destination for fantasy skins has always been Plastik, which has now become Petrichor. The skins aren’t simply different colours, but always have markings which add to the character, but also are wonderfully realistic in their detailing. Fantasy Faire is always a wonderful time for many in SL, but it also prompted me to start window shopping for items there. This skin is one which Petrichor have released for the fair and I LOVE it. The only problem was choosing which of the various colours to get. The horns are also from there, which meant that I could colour them to match!
The eyes are from SOUL and are OMEGA applied to my LOGO eyes, but as those could be BOM too the world of possibilities for eyes too seem endless. Hair is from Tram and fits so well with the colour of the skin.
Our AVs are never set one way, and indeed there’s much fun to be had from messing about with their looks. If you are ever looking for something to do in SL, why not try creating a completely new and fantasy look!
