Dare to rebel! It matters not what others say about you, you know yourself far better! Prove them wrong and delight in doing so!
I don’t know about you, but I am tired-to-my-bones of being told by others who or what I am, or someone providing some insight, often rudely delivered, as to why they think I have done something…
Such a load of bollocks! Ha!
It’s an interesting thought that those who truly know me, and have known me over years don’t attempt such stuff!
2019 has been a year which has tested me. I am sure it’s not been an easy ride for any of us reading this. It’s been a constantly speeding treadmill-run with surprise obstacles thrown in for good measure.
I don’t share alllll of it. Those closest to me know what I go through, but I don’t easily overshare things, partly because I know so many have their own things they are fighting too. One teeny insight, is that the year started with my young dog being diagnosed with a really aggressive and non-operable form of cancer. He battled valiantly, and I did all I could to keep his spirits raised, but in April we had to have him put to sleep.
In that time the vets became like a second home to us, and all the staff there were amazing, both with Domino, and us. At the beginning of September I had to rush my cat to that same vets. Whilst there, they were also worried about his weight which has been gradually decreasing over the past couple of years. He has had a heart murmur for years, but it hadn’t caused any further problems… until now.
After many blood tests, and ultrasound scanning, they found he has heart failure. For those who don’t know me, my cat is my shadow. He’s 9 now, and for those 9 years has been attached to me, never far from where I am. He’s a very dog-like cat… and more demanding than aloof. He’s also a hilarious character, and very much my snuggle buddy.
When you are told they aren’t well, your pets are no different from your kids in that you do all you can to help them. Indy’s never going to get better, and at some point we will have to have him put to sleep, but while he’s happy and himself, the vets have given me tablets to give him.
He’s the first cat I have ever had. I have always had dogs before, and they are soooo easy to convince to take tablets. Cats on the other hand.. make it far more… interesting. Haha. It’s a testament to how good he is as a cat that he’s never scratched or bitten me once whilst I have been administering pills, and for those out there who have cats, let me tell you… he has to take seven different tablets each day spread out over the day.
So far, he’s doing well. He must be feeling well at the moment, because he’s enjoying terrorizing our massive, older dog, and reminding him he’s in charge.
It’s been a good reminder to me to always look to the good moments, and take each day as it comes. In an odd way it’s a very realistic and positive way to live.
That said, I can’t say to have as much patience as usual when people…. seek to take more of me and my energy than I have to spare. *chuckles*… I guess… you can call that your warning!
