As the days grow darker and the shadows lengthen, this is the time to let the velvet cover of cosiness warm me. Nature yields her fruits in preparation for the colder days, whilst candles are used to punctuate the deep darkness with their flickering gold.
This is a time of quiet contemplation, a time for me to sit and take stock, not only of where I am, but who I am.
So often we see ourselves through the eyes and opinions of others. It’s always worth the reminder that it is I who know myself best of all. I have been the one constant in all my days.
I heard something the other day which made me stop. “You have to believe in yourself because no-one is going to do that for you.” Talk about a moment of clarity. How true those words are! It also made me smile that I DO indeed have faith in myself.
I have weathered well over forty years of ‘negative feedback’ at times from those who might seek to confine or limit me. It has dented me at times, but oh my goodness how it has strengthened me too.
I am also a very strong defender of those I care deeply for, especially when I see a person of good and kind heart being emotionally stripped by the selfish attempts at control from others. I do think that once you know how it feels to receive such treatment, you are more aware of it affecting others too.
So my two things to say today are to have ultimate faith in the wonderful person you are, and just remind those close to you how amazing they are too!
Love.. is meant to be shared with yourself, as well as others. ♥
